is something amazingly spectacular and in my opinion a very rare find. As you can see it is a monumental fireplace mantel with over mirrorÂ...Oh in the classical emperor style. It is a mahogany veneer probably on pine. It has a nice clean surface finish which appears to be original. As you can see it is mounted with finely casted decorative mounts in gilt bronze. The castings are all very fine Â- it appears on the bottom of the mantel that t may have been another set of mounts under the torch with the flame or quite possibly a candle girandole and you can see that t are spots t that something is missing. The mirror as you can see the original and it is in bad condition Â- it should be replaced or re-silvered. As I said the surface is very fine Â- rich and mellow. The mantel and the mirror are two separate pieces which makes it a lot easier to transport. It dates from the last half of the 19th Century.
