1942206 Antique Catholic BELGIAN BRONZE BELL - MATHEUS (Matthew) MARCUS (Mark) LUCAS (Luke) JOHANNES (John) Apostles Saints Belgium Old Belgian bronze bell in a handsome flared shape measuring 3 1/4" tall x 2 7/8" in diameter across rim and heavy, weighing almost 14oz. BELGIUM is impressed on the top next to the loop handle. Around the bell are the words MATHEUS, S. LUCAS, S. MARCUS, and JOHANNES. These are all Apostles and I think the S. prefixes stand for Saint. There is an image below each apostle which are probably the following: Matheus- a man with a book, Marcus - a Leopard, Lucas - a Lion, and Johannes - a bird. The clapper has flattened planes overall and appears hand-forged. The bell rings loudly in a resounding tone. Click for Price @ GoAntiques.com
