To save water, turn it off! To save water, turn it off!

You Want To Save Water?

Okay, you say your water bills are too high and you say you want to start conserving water in your house. But, are you ready for a "Navy Shower"? No, don't worry, it's not as horrible as it sounds. A navy shower was developed by naval ships (surprise!) in order to conserve fresh water on voyages. While a ten-minute shower is estimated to use as much as 60 gallons of water, a navy shower will use about three. It's not often you can save yourself something by a factor of 20. To do a navy shower, turn on the water and get yourself wet and then turn off the water. Soap up and scrub. Then turn the water back on and wash off. Pretty simple but the savings add up quickly. If you use an electric water heater with this method, you can save yourself about $380 a year.
