Installing spray foam insulation can cut heating costs.

Greening Your Home

Looking to join the green revolution? As this Forbes.com article points out, it's not necessary to install expensive solar panels; just improving your home's energy efficiency would be enough. How do you do it?
  • Switch your home's lighting to compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs).
  • Find out which appliances are using the most electricity and unplug them when they are not in use.
  • Install a dual-flush toilet to reduce water use.
  • Install spray foam insulation to cut home heating costs.
  • Forbes.com also points out that these steps not only will cut down your monthly bills, some of them can also be claimed as tax credits next year.

Efficient appliances

04/28/2009 03:18 PM Arthunter111

I can't state enough how happy I am that my wife and I upgraded with energystar appliances from whirlpool.

Our bills are so much lower now. We'd done the cfl thing before, and that helped some, but this was the big fish for efficiency. Please, if your appliances are 10 years old or older, buy new ones. You'll be so glad you did!
