Taken on my last trip to Chicago. Looks green to me!

Chicago Mayor Wins USGBC Award

For his inspiring work to green up his city, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley has been awarded the USGBC's new Legacy Award for Global Leadership in Creating Sustainable Cities. If there's anything better than receiving an award, it's having one created because of you.

Mayor Daley has turned Chicago into the "leading green city in the U.S." It was one of the first cities to adopt LEED for public buildings and, according to the USGBC, is home to more LEED-certified green buildings than any other. Congrats, Mayor Daley and the city of Chicago. It's not enough to make me want to move there, but I'll feel better for visiting in the future.

I wonder if Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia was in the running for his "Coolest Block" contest. Maybe next year, Mr. Nutter...

Does your mayor deserve special mention? Tell us why.

We can never have to many Green buildings.
I just worry about planting gardens on roofs. Being in the roofing industry, I have seen many roof planters leak.
How will you find a leak if it is covered with a foot of soil.
