The Language of Selling a Home

Do you speak "Realtor"? It's an important language to know when buying a home. "Listing sheets," or descriptions of homes for sale, often play up the positive and downplay the negative. With this in mind, the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents released a list of home buying euphemisms and lingo for the prospective home buyer. In it, you can learn that "Easy access to everywhere," can really mean "Backing up to an expressway," and "Finishing touches needed," really means "Bring your own lighting, hardware, paint, wood trim, and carpet." The phrases "Cute as a button" and "Lots of potential" are also explained. The whole thing is done slightly tongue-in-cheek but worth a read.

Have you ever been duped by a listing? What's the sneakiest real estate lingo you've seen?
