Taping off the squares

Sun Room

Marking off squares to paint floor

Taping Off The Squares

Sun room floor is finished. When we pulled the tape up from the little stripes, some of the paint came up too. We had to paint the stripes with artist's paint brushes. Quite a chore...but now we are finished.

Looks Great!!!

What Kind of paint did you use?

Did you put a sealer on top?

Be sure to put pads on the furniture or you will scrape your paint off.
Nice project.

Can't wait to see what you are doing to the back yard.

It looks a bit like the desert.

Painted Floor

Is the floor cement? If so, what do you do to prepare it? I have an old house and my sunroom floor has old carpet on it. I have a limited budget and would have to do this myself. What do you suggest?

Glue plywood to cement and then prime and paint the plywood. It will look nice and will be easy to repaint. Get fancy by putting down a vapor barrier topped with an inch or two of foam board insulation first -- the pink foam can withstand pressure of furniture and feet if you put plywood over it. For painting just concrete you have to use something like marine paint, which has lots of nasty chemicals in it, and the floor will always be cold, plus it will draw heat from the room and also will wick moisture into room.
