A Roundup of Kitchen Styles

Our homes are extensions of ourselves. And with the kitchen the heart of a home, we want ours to reflect what we enjoy. Various styles over the years help us give form to what we like. Experts suggest that today there are possibly three “main” styles. One is Contemporary. Another is Traditional. The third is a style that is almost not “a” style. Called Transitional and/or Eclectic, it’s basically a bit of this style, a bit of that, with people customizing to suit their needs and tastes. Other recognized styles such as English Cottage, French Country and Lodge also hold their appeal. Some fit homeowners’ preferences to bring a treasured home back to its roots by speaking to its original style, such as Arts and Crafts. So where do you begin when thinking about your kitchen’s transformation? Several designers here share their style interpretations. Let their choices in colors, materials, use of light, and shapes be your inspirational guide.
