DIFFICULTY RATING: (2 out of 5 - Easy)

It's easy to replace an old, scratched door handle and lockset with a new model that is sized and handed to match your current lockset.
Step 2: Insert the dead latch and lock assembly
If you replace your lockset with one that is the same size, you will reverse the steps by inserting the deadlatch first, facing the same direction as the original deadlatch, and screwing it in place. Then insert the two halves of the lockset and screw them in place.
Replace the two halves of the lockset and tighten the screws.

Step 2 of 3 (View Full Step by Step)

Lockset (Buy) Screwdriver (Buy)
Buy the correct handle for your door by checking the position of the handle as you open the door toward you. As it opens toward you, a right-handed lockset will be on the right and a left-handed set will be on the left.
