Peel strength
Measurement of the bonding strength of the roofing membrane is the amount of force needed to peel the bonded roofing membrane from its substrate, in addition to the overall strength of the roof covering.

Peeling
Detachment of a dried paint film in relatively large pieces, usually caused by moisture or grease under the painted surface.

Peen
The wedge or rounded striking head, opposite the face of a hammer, which is used for shaping or striking metal.

Peening
Hammering or blending metal to change its surface or shape.

Peg
Small diameter cylinder, of wood or other material, which is used to connect two or more pieces of something by being fit into a hole in each. These are often called dowels when used to strengthen joints or connect pieces. Pegs can be used to hold objects when half of the peg is left protruding.

Pegboard
Sheet of compressed fiberboard that has small, evenly spaced holes for pegs, hooks or hangers and is used to store tools, etc.

Pegging down
A very effective way to increase flower production on Bonbon & Hybrid Perpetual roses that send up long shoots with oily flowers on the end. It is a time consuming method but well worth the display. This is generally done in the fall. Instead of pruning, spread the runners and fasten to the soil with wire loops. Basically you are training the plant horizontally.

Pellet stove
A space heating device that burns pellets; are more efficient, clean burning, and easier to operate relative to conventional cord wood burning appliances.

Pellets
Solid fuels made from primarily wood sawdust that is compacted under high pressure to form small (about the size of rabbit feed) pellets for use in a pellet stove.

Pelton turbine
A type of impulse hydropower turbine where water passes through nozzles and strikes cups arranged on the periphery of a runner, or wheel, which causes the runner to rotate, producing mechanical energy. The runner is fixed on a shaft, and the rotational motion of the turbine is transmitted by the shaft to a generator. Generally used for high head, low flow applications.
